This is made from the clarinet I learned to play on.  Its a really old wooden one and now it doesn't make a sound, but I couldn't part with it.  The wood for the base was repurposed from an old desk.  Its painted black with silver edging.  The shade was given to me as a gift specifically for this project.  It uses night light sized bulbs.  This is by far my favorite project yet because of the sentimental value it holds.

I LOVE this! It looks so professional, and the details of the lampshade go perfectly with the clarinet!

Beautiful.

The clarinet kind of looks like it is hiding and trying to be obscure.  It makes me laugh the think about.  But it came out beautiful

This is such a fantastic idea. Makes me pout b/c I gave my old clarinet away!!!! This is really nice b/c you can actually enjoy your old clarinet (instead of in a closet somewhere as mine was!)

Very nice Smiley I tried the same thing with my old trombone years ago, however I like yours better.  Also, just wanted to add that your clarinet probably just needs to see a repairman and it will play again.  The keys are probably just out of alignment and possibly missing some pads or springs.... This is so amazing!  My old, worn flute is sitting packed away in the corner of my craft room, and I don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of it either.  What you came up with is so clever and creative.  Great work Smiley

Great idea! Any hints/suggestions for doing that? My clarinet has been sitting in my closet for maybe 9 years...I doubt I'll ever play it again...but hard to just give it away as well....

so neat! i showed my mom this post, and the first words out of her mouth were "no, you may absolutely not." heheh. i played clarinet in elm. school and junior high, and would LOVE to re-purpose into a lamp since it's getting no other use!
anyways, i love it! the lamp shade looks like a perfect match, with details and such.
i wish i had known, i definitely would have voted also! nevertheless, i think it's fabulous!

That's really neat!
I play clarinet, so I can definitely appreciate this, although the thought of turning one of my clarinets into a lamp makes me cringe-but then again I still play on an almost-daily basis.
Beautiful job.
Now you just need some old-tommy light-posts and some jazz posters and you'd have a New Orleans-themed room! Wink
