I just love my banana!  It is just about 3 feet long.  I made this lamp out of clay, B-Mix with sand.  First I rolled out slabs of the clay and let them stiffen up.  Then I cut the slabs into banana shaped pieces and attached them together. After that I raised up of the polka dots with more clay and cut away holes of different sizes to let the light out. Bisque fired the lamp.  I glazed it with Matador Red, purple and blue (I can't remember the names), splattered some Chartreuse on the stem ends, and gave it a shinny clear coat.  Fired it again.  Finally inserted the lamp socket through a large cut out polka dot.  And ta-da, one large lit banana!

Here it is from the other side:

This is the top.  You can kind of see the raised up polka dots.

This last one is in the dark.  I love the circle shapes the light makes!

Thanks for looking at my banana lamp!  Any comments are welcome because this is my first post and first challenge all in one!  Good luck to everyone!

Thanks, I love it too!  I have a very realistic banana fake banana that many have tried to eat.  It makes me laugh and then it hit me, how funny slash weird would a big banana lamp be!?!  Thus the lamp was born.  I painted it purple because it is my favorite color and I think purple is a fetching color for a banana.
