I need a twin needle to sew stretch fabric. I have tried a Kenmore brand twin needle with my Singer Inspiration 4228. That just caused the fabric and needle to sink really low into the machine (and I don't mean the normal fabric snag; this was really bad!). I had to pull the fabric and needles out with difficulty (the needle turned out to be too small for what I wanted anyways), and the machine ended out needing repair because the needle then started hitting the plate that's under the bobbin case.

I really want to try Schmetz twin needles, but needless to say, ever since the Kenmore twin needle fiasco, I'm scared to try anything else without advice! Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I checked the Singer Web site to find the twin needles they say to use, but they literally only have one style, and the distance between the needles aren't big like I want them. I'm looking for a 6mm gap, but will settle for a 4mm one.
