I made this lamp a while ago, perhaps in the summer of 2001?  It was one of two that I made -- one for my mother's friend, who, apparently, loves cowboy boot lamps.  It was only then that I was allowed to sacrifice the 2nd boot for my own machinations.  I somehow have never posted it on craftster!  This challenge got me excited, and then I realized I'd never finished the shade!  That was my project today, and I'd forgotten how sweet the smell of hot glue is, and how wonderfully it burns your fingers.

Enough stalling.  Here 'tis:

Here's the cute lamp cord tail:

Full frontal boot lamp:

And a close-up of the awesome gauzy fabric I used to make the shade.  I was really fastidious about cutting out a perfectly shaped circle.  I measured diameters, circumferences, etc.  I'm a little nuts, but I think it paid off.  I bought the ball fringe many many years ago because it was too tacky to pass up.  Looks like it finally found a home!

Enjoy!  This is my first challenge, and I hope this is up to challenge standards!  I love this lamp.  It has enjoyed a place of honor in my home.

i love the fabric on the shade. you say that your mother's friend loves boot lamps as if they're common. i've never seen anything like this. i think it's great! and the pom pom fringe really completes the look!

Somehow I've managed to collect a bunch of cowboy boots that don't fit me and which have unfortunately gotten mold on them, but are still beautiful so I haven't had the heart to get rid of them.  Now I have a reason to get them cleaned up -- cowboy boot lamps!  Thanks!

You totally should do it!  Lamp kit + some sort of stuffing material (newsprint?) + cardboard to hold onto the fixture = awesomeness!
