Remembers when Polymer clay only came in white..

I made a New Years Resolution to be more Eco friendly, so I decided to refab on old lamp from Goodwill. She was a pain to dismantle but I managed to get her down to the basics. After that came the thought process of what new life it was going to have. So I went with my interpretation of the "Tree of life" . The face represents the wisdom, breaking out of the rock is perseverance, and the swing is youth.
The base of the tree is constructed of recycled paper pulp. I then used air dry clay for the rock, the face and the bark.
I stripped the old fabric off the shade and painted branch clusters on, you could see them when the lamp is on. I just can't seem to photograph it. Then I covered with green fabric and hid the seams with trim. It even has a fluorescent bulb in it.
All together the cost was probably around $ 5-8.

Humble beginnings

In process...

Nicely done!  Good job carving/molding of the tree and face and love that you did some recycling with the basic lamp and the paper pulp.  Was thinking that the swing is a sweet touch until I read the various symbolisms and now appreciate it even more.  Good luck!

The tree sculpture, that face, and that swing is a perfect touch. Great story behind it too.
