Hey all, my grandparents owned a costume jewelry store in the fifties and sixties (think retro Clare's). When they closed up shop in '65, they packed all the leftover stock in boxes which now reside in my dad's basement. Every once in a while he lets me root through them and take a bunch of amazing treasures.

Yesterday my dad let me take more vintage jewelry and some broken vintage watches. If you're into this kind of stuff, please list it in your "extras" section and I'll share the love!

Ahh I'm just quoting this to say that I'm super jealous! That's so cool.

Here are the pics of our re-upholstering project in the works.
My boyfriend dyed the fabric, isn't he crafty?

please ignore my feet

the next step will be removing the wax from the fabric and taking the dirty old fabric off the chairs (lots and lots of staples)

Poerava - Is all that white stuff on the fabric wax....I'm confused Huh Did you place wax on the fabric, dye it and then the wax stays the original color....sorry about my naiveity...I don't do much with dying!

Is it just me, or is it like every postal worker across the world woke up and decided to make OWS packages a priority!? I've never seen so many people receive at once!

We painted melted wax on the fabric, then dyed it. the areas with wax will stay the original color (in our case tan) and the rest will be dyed (in our case brown). you then have to remove the wax by ironing in between 2 layers and then wash it. and you're done.

I had found a nice tutorial online that explains the whole process, I'll post the link when i find it again.

That's really cool Poerava.  It's nice that you and your BF can craft together.  I can't wait to see the finished product!

I was just looking at KimberlyPye's list and thinking what I could claim her for. Then I realized that a lot of what I was thinking of, I just mailed her today. I claimed her last week.

Haha!

I can't wait to see what you sent!!
