Sacred hearts!  It's Jesus' heart and it's on fire!

Who doesn't love that?

I was laid up sick for a week which is I think what inspired me to be all obsessive and make this piece.  I usually leave a lot more blank space in my embroidery designs, but on this one I just couldn't seem to stop adding the pink and green and gold rows.  Oh, and I FINALLY got the hang of using metallic floss.  It has always made me cuss a blue streak in the past.

I want to frame it, but my husband says we already have too much Catholic art up in the house.  Pffffttt... whatever Wink

Wow-that much detail would have made me go cross eyed!

hahaha, I think normally it would make me go cross eyed too, but I made it when I was too sick to do anything but lie on the couch.  So the over the top detail is what made it therapeutic for me.

Holy cow!  That is beautiful!  Is the whole inside of the heart done in chain stitch?!?!!?!?!?  I can do the chain stitch, but I am slow at it and use the "stab" (or poke up, poke down, etc...) method rather than the smooth sewing motion.

The inside of the heart is actually just stem stitch using all 6 strands of floss.

Btw, I LOVE your avatar!

Human rights are for EVERYONE.  Did you know that Aung San Suu Kyi had been released from house arrest in Burma? Many other prisoners of conscience are still being detained.  Please research this topic... Amnesty International needs your help.

I love the detail in red on the heart. It looks so lovely to touch. Which is why you should frame it, to keep people with grubby hands like me from making a mess.

hahhahaha... it IS fun to touch.... so I am going to frame it in a shadowbox frame.  So you can still see the texture and not grubby it all up!  I'm going to give it to a non-crafty friend for his birthday.  I think he will probably be a little weirded out by it.  Which is okay by me.
