I started working on a beanie at work last night for my cousin Brianne. She loves the color blue so here was the outcome (finished today)

Ha ha, that's cool! I like that shade of blue! How does your cousin like it? Have you knitted beanies before? Great job!  Wink

If you know how to do stranded knitting, you could knit black leopard spots with that shade of blue as the base. That would "rock" as the kids say.

She hasn't seen it yet. I sent her an email with it but she hasn't gotten to see it yet. Her mom and her grandmother LOVE it though. I sent them emails about it.

That'd be super cool. I hate changing colors though! =(

EDIT- Yes it's my first beanie.

Is it your own pattern? I attempted a beanie once, but made it too short and had to frog it. Of course, I never got back to it again. I never use patterns; I just glance at a bunch of different patterns to see how things are generally done.

I got a pattern from a girl on myspace but kinda improvised.

CO 64 over 4 DPNs (16 on each)
K2 P2 for 3 rows
K8 M1 (I used KFB) and repeat until end of row
K row
K9 M1 and repeat until end of row
At this point I just knitted until the size I was desiring was achieved.
When you reach your desired size I'd k4 then k2 tog (repeat)
K
K3 and K2 tog (repeat)
K
K2 and K2 together (repeat)
K
K1 and K2 together (repeat)
After that just K2 together until you're left with 1 stitch on each needle. Cut your yarn and pull strand through to tighten.

So finally Brianne got around to checking her myspace messages and saw the beanie. SHE LOVES IT. She asked for one in black too! =) I told her of course.

She doesn't have it yet. She wants a black one too so I'll send it to her together.
