Oh, how freaking awesome does that look!Yummmm!  And you made the lemon curd! Wow.  I've heard that it really isn't that hard to make, but it can be time consuming.  I just buy it, but I've always wanted to make it.  Your foil-wrapped steamer basket is cool Smiley   There's nothing wrong with the ghetto fabulous kitchen invention.  hee hee!

The boys are adorable too, by the way.

OMG, that looks good!!!  And I love all the pictures of the little boys along the way.  They're so cute!  My 4 yr old is always helping me cook in his undies, haha!  The lemon curd/strawberry preserves mixture sounds seriously awesome.  I need to make this.  Immediately!!!!

P.S.  I think I'll have to steal your "ghetto good enough".  I could have really used that phrase when my husband and I were making about a million tamales last Christmas.

The curd wasn't that time consuming, really. It took less than an hour, and I did it while waiting for the bread to rise the first time. And kids in undies always make the best kitchen helpers. XD

That looks sooo delicious! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. I've always loved bread that was shaped and braided.

And by the way, you have the cutest kids!!!! Loved the pictures ^_^

Aww, thanks! They're actually my roomie's kids, tho. I was their nanny for a long time, so they're like little brothers to me, and I think they're adorable. They like this bread project best because their mom is Jewish, so when they go to temple and eat challah bread, they're always coming home telling me about how they saw "our bread" there. XD

Beautiful-looking bread! Homemade lemon curd? That sounds amazing in itself!

So good to see kids helping you cook, and learning at the same time! Besides, they're also learning that boys can cook and bake too. Smiley

Someone's gotta teach 'em! Their dad doesn't cook at all. When they're over there, it's usually take out or microwave dinners.  Roll Eyes

Oh my God, this looks positively amazing! Was it messy braiding the dough covered in jam?
