Pirate cake that I made for the bf's birthday.  For the ship I used 2 - 9" round cake pans, cut them in half stacked them together and laid them cut side facing up, then I took a little bit of the round bottom off so the ship would sit flat.  I covered it with chocolate fudge frosting, used a cake comb so it looked like wood.  Added sails with construction paper and skewers and a Reese's cup crows nest.  Added chocolate coins for booty, malt balls for cannons, and some little plastic pirate dudes.

It was pretty easy and if you google pirate cakes you'll get a bunch of images of similar cakes.

That is an awesome pirate cake Smiley  I like the waves along the bottom too.  Great details.

That is a really cool cake. When I first saw it I thought it would be too difficult for a beginner like me. But your directions made it sound SO easy. Cool. Thanks!

Ha! That's too fabulous! Great job!

I have never attempted a ship-shaped cake, but I did make this much simpler one a few years ago, for a pirate-themed Halloween party:

As you can see from the photo, the Homies' ship has sunk -- but note the familiar peanut-butter-cup crow's nest!
