Hi, everyone.  I feel really dumb  Tongue asking this, but where can I get black (or possibly colored/ dyed) suede, approximately 15 x 22 inches?  I looked at Michaels, and was annoyed to see they were selling a 4" x 7" piece for $8!  I have tried one of the fabric stores, but they only had the fake stuff, and online I've found "ultra suede" for $65 A YARD!  Yeesh  . . . If anyone knows, I would be SOOOO happy to know!  Thanks.

I'd try looking for suede jackets at Good Will or some other used clothing store, or even yard/garage sales. Then you could just cut it up to get what you need. Or maybe try to find a tanner in your area.

Id say the cheapest would be like what the other person mentioned.  Go to yardsales and thrift stores and look for old jackets.  I see them all the time for really cheap.   Or you could always try ebay.  Im sure it would cost more though.

I live in the Phoenix area and there are two different fabric outlet stores that sell odd pieces of leather by the pound. Maybe look in the phone book for fabric outlet stores.

Thanks, everyone for the replies!  I actually found a leather supply shop in town, so went there and got a whole piece of beautiful suede.  Now . . . what to do with the scraps?  Blue suede shoes (or sandals) LOL! Wink
