My take on the Infinity Dress (4 pics) *double layer pixie skirt tutorial pg.2*

Thank you all for the comments. I will post action shots when I wear it. I love my new serger it is a Singer ultralock. My parents and sisters didn't really care for the fabric, but I loved the 60's feel of it. 

For us unexperienced sewers, will you tell how you did your modifications to the pattern? Thank you thank you thank you!

 All I did was make the circle skirt into squares, I cut two. I used this tutorial for the skirt part: http://www.whatthecraft.com/tuts/circ.htm then I layered the two squares in opposite directions (so there are three points). As for the waistband, I measured the waist part of the skirt then added a few inches to allow for where it overlaps (it should be bigger than your actual measurement). I cut the elastic to the waist (or where you measured for your skirt) minus about an inch. Tunnel the elastic through the band and stitch across the opened ends of casing catching the elastic. I can draw up a picture if you want a visual illustration.

Since I'm a big dummy, a visual would be grand! Thank you!

I will have it up tommorrow, I had one 3/4 of the way done then the power went out.

I love your take on the dress - another classic.  I did the two squares thing for my daughter (it's way back on page 83 of the quickie dress topic) but I didn't know this was also called a "pixie" skirt.  If anyone is totally maths challenged, I had a cheat which was to get my daughter's waist measurement and then search the kitchen cupboards for anything round (we ended up using a smallish dinner plate) which had the same circumference.  Then I just used the plate to move around on the fabric plotting where the waist should be cut.  I don't have a plate big enough for me  but I think I have a stockpot that might work  .
