Well, long story short: I have a small jewelry box with quite a few necklaces that tend to get tangled. I've been wanting to create some sort of display for them for a wall behind my bedroom door. Today was the day, and all for about $10! Smiley

Materials used:
2 project display boards from Big Lots ($4)
Fabric from the remnant bin at Wal-Mart ($1)
2 rolls ribbon ($1)
Small cup hooks ($4)
Staple gun

I taped the two project boards together, just to keep them even. Be sure to put the open side of the boards together.

Using a staple gun, attach the fabric to the cardboard.

Close-up of the fabric just because I thought it was awesome Smiley Its brighter then it looks in the pic

After attaching the fabric I marked the back of the board every 4 inches around the edges. I then stapled the ribbon to each of the marks and eventually came out with the crisscross look. The sections arent as even as I had hoped for, but they still turned out alright Smiley After the ribbon is in place, use a nail to poke a hole through the fabric and ribbon, then screw in your cup hook whereever you want it. Add a picture hanger to the back and you're done! I know the left side of my board is a bit empty, I ran out of cup hooks, lol - will be fixed tomorrow Smiley

Finished product

Thanks!!! I love it too - it matches my room perfectly! I wish the ribbon would have turned out more evenly, but its not off enough to redo, lol - I'm so happy with it Smiley I plan on adding a few more hooks throughout the board, for necklaces and bracelets. Then possibly figure out away to add a spot for ear rings too Smiley Oh the possibilities, lol

Great idea!  I've seen similar things like this as picture holders, but never thought about adding the hooks for jewelry - I may have to try it!! Smiley

i didn't notice they were off? =) maybe in person and maybe cause you made it you can, but either way as long as you fill it up with necklaces and bracelets no one will notice =)

Here's the one I just made for mom. It turned out awesome! I figured out what I did on mine that made the squares look off, I used a different pattern on each side - whoops! This one is even, haha.

Closeup of the awesome fabric my mom picked out - for $7 a yard it better be awesome, lol.
