My Signature Recycled Bag

Here's my Green "Greenie" Tote Bag. I crocheted it from green-colored recycled plastic bags my SIL gave me in honor of Earth Day. The bottom is a tighter stitch as I used a N hook and then switched to a Q hook for the sides of the bag. It's done in HDC st and works up pretty quick. It makes a great produce bag. I just put my produce in it at the store and then you can put it right into your refrigerator in this same bag at home. With the larger holes on the sides, your produce can breathe which makes it last longer while stored in your refrig!

Here is the free pattern link if you'd like to make this bag. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/04/21/green-tote-for-earth-day/

Very nice! I love that you used greed bags!

I've been making plastic yarn for some time, and I'm close to having enough to create....something.... lol

Thanks for the inspiration!

This is great! I made produce bags out of tulle for the same principle ..the fruits and veggies can breath. Do people give you weird looks when you use this for a produce bag? I have knitted with plastic "yarn" before with great success, I wish I could crochet.

Sometimes people that aren't familiar with my crocheted grocery bags ask what is that made of? Then they usually say it's plastic bags?? I love using my handmade plarn bags. I don't knit but I do have a few links for free knitted projects using plarn at the bottom of this page http://www.myrecycledbags.com/my-pattern-links/.
