I found this fabric in the remnant bin and knew it was destine for a skirt.  I almost did pleats but I didn't need it to look that much more school girl-esq (and I couldn't figure out how large or small to make the pleats and I didn't want to do math.)  I need to go to joann's and get a ribbon to put through the eyelets instead of the frayed piece of fabric. And I need to redo the hem because the tension was totally off (I was just given my grandmother's old machine and haven't fully figured it out yet.) I also want to do another line of stiching at the top for a little more detailing.  It's way to cold to wear now, so I have some time to work on it I guess...
What color ribbon should I use?

Very cute! I kinda like the frayed fabric bit better than ribbon, but I can understand why you might want to change it out. I'd probably pick a shade close to the blue or the red found in the skirt. Leaning more towards the blue because of the stitching already in that color might help pull it all together. Smiley

Cute! You might want to take the machine in to get serviced if it gives you a lot of trouble, sometimes that makes a huge difference in older machines. I think red ribbon would be cute on it!

I think I'll bring the skirt when I'm searching for ribbon because I still can't quite decide.
I know I should get the machine serviced but it's super heavy and I don't have a car in the city.  I will at least pick up oil for it when I go to joann's next.
Thanks ladies!
