I made this for someone who I no longer need to give it to. although I kind of wish I had.

A tiny travel journal. for someone who's always roaming about the world.

This is about the most basic bookbinding thing ever and I seem to have half-invented it...

I got a pile of record cards (little pieces of thin, ruled card that I found second-hand somewhere, I'm assuming you can get them from stationery shops because they're very useful!) and cut out various pieces from one of my many photography books. (don't worry, I have second copies of most of them - don't ask me why!). Most of these photos are travel themed... well, parrots, chinese dragon sculptures, snow etc.

Then I holepunched them all along one edge, binding it with some sort of silky black cord. I tied it at the ends and put a fat little bead on there, just for laughs.

The cover is part of an old children's dictionary, I have a lot of them hanging around too, and I liked the text in relation to the travel theme. Smiley

If you can't read the text below, it says~

"the attractiveness of the dictionary as a whole.

Additional features are the appendices on foreign words and phrases, common abbreviations and contractions, the Greek alphabet, Roman numerals, countries with their capitals and populations, exploration, mountains, volcanoes, rivers, lakes and bridges."

and the back, just in case you wondered ~ I neatened up the raw edges with a bit of masking tape, I love the texture of it.

I'd love to hear what people think of it!
speak to you soon.

They say they climb mountains because they are there.  I wonder if it would astound them to know that the very same reason is why the rest of us go around them.
