I made this cake for a friend in March. Everyone loved it, but I really hated frosting it. The top layer of the cake just kept peeling when I frosted it....anyways I hope you like it! I got the idea from:

That turned out cute!

To keep the cake from peeling like that when you frost it - freeze the cake first, then frost it while frozen.

Two words to keep it from crumbling:  Crumb Coat.  Its a thin layer of frosting that you let dry, then you frost over it and it keeps all of the crumbs out of your frosting.
