finished this tonight for my friend jim...it's about two by three feet, made of old tshirts--a nice recycled project for earth day!  it's all half-double crochet, and nothing fancy, but it's nice to be done with it...tshirts make awesome bath rugs.  Smiley

This is great! I'm thinking of making a t-shirt rug.  It looks nice and comfy.

i think there are probably about six or seven old tshirts in there, but it's strips and parts i had around, so there might be one or two  extras.  it's less "recycled", but i've actually be eyeing off those jersey tshirt sheet sets...you could make one big run that would all be easy to cut into strips and everything with a twin sheet set and they often seem to have them very cheap at target and whatnot.  the only slightly less comfortable part of this rug is that there are lots of knots because i was using small strips...i also could have been less lazy about how i cut the strips to make longer continuous lengths, but that's not how i roll.  Wink
anyway, if you get a Q hook and know how to do a basic crochet stitch, one of these rectangular rugs is super easy.  it's a little trickier to do a round or oval because you have to count--and, again, i'm lazy--but i could have finished this rectangle in just day if i were just sitting and hooking.  it's a little hard on the hands because it gets so heavy to manuever, so i would think if i wanted to make a really big rug i would probably do it in parts and then attach the parts...but that's all just theory.

Nice job!  I love t-shirt rugs.  Your color combinations turned out really nice.

I have been wanting to make one of these.  How many tshirts did you have to use to make it?

i'm not really sure how many because they weren't all whole tshirts...under ten, i would say for sure--probably about seven?
and thanks for the comment about colors!  i have more black tshirts than anything else and i was worried it was going to be too dark for my friend, but i think it's pretty balanced.  nice to get a vote of support.  Smiley
