And it took 3 days to knit too!

I ordered this 100% alpaca yarn (little more than $6/390m/ball) with socks in my mind, but when it arrived I realized I didn't have compatible sock needles. So while I waited for the needles to use on the black yarn, I took the pink (which is  less pink and more red than it looks on the monitor) and made me a Wisp. The bad thing is that it's done already, and the needles probably weren't even shipped yet. Also, the thing grew and grew and grew. Pre-blocking = 1,05m x 0.32m. Pos-blocking = 1,47m x 0.45m. And I still have almost half a ball left:

The pic closest to the real colour is one iin progress shot:

Now I can't think of something to do with the left-overs, and I HAVE to keep my hands off the black yarn until I have my needles but it's sooo hard  Cry This is seriously as soft as the bamboo yarn that was my former favourite!

Ooh it's really classy looking, I bet it's lovely to wear. It's beautiful.
I know a lady, here in Wales, who has a few alpacas and she knits baby clothes with the wool. It really is amazingly soft.

You just have to use all your will power to wait for the needles, just keep reminding yourself how happy your tootsies will be in such soft, snuggly socks!  Grin

No, they'll be a gift! If it were for me, I'd already have started something lace, with a more complicated pattern and smaller needles... I'm almost ordering another black ball for the socks, so I can use this one for something else.

I think you should order another ball!! At $6 it's great value, you knit seriously gorgeous things and black is such a practical colour.  Wink

Eriny, you! You evil enabler! The problem is, the shipping is the same for 2 balls. So if I order just one black, I'll be kind of losing money, right?

You already know what my answer going to be  Wink

I just know from past experience how things tease away at you. I made a beautiful scarf for a friend out of amazing wool I got at a Welsh town craft show a few years ago. Everytime I see it I wish I had bought more of the wool.

To make you feel better about ordering more (and to try to convince you I have a little halo, not horns Cheesy), you still have some left over pink wool and you would be getting another extra ball so you can make some lovely gifts with them- its always going to be someone's birthday soon, right? Or you could sell one of your beautiful creations for a lot, lot more than the cost of 2 balls and shipping, if your wisp is anything to go by!!

Sorry if I'm saying the worst possible things, but I do think your knitting is fab!

Oh wow, I never expected that! *blush*
Well, now I can't do it, because I discovered this company is discontinuing a yarn that I planned to use eventually, so I bought some to stock up. I spent way more than I was going to spend on alpaca, and used all my credit card limit except for $1.5!

It's true!

Shame about the alpaca but at least you've bought something else you really wanted and I have no doubt you'lll be crafting something fab out of that. We want to see the pics when you do!
