Remembers when Polymer clay only came in white..

Saw this little cutie at goodwill for $2 and had to have her. She was smelly beaten up and well used. Now she is fabulous and practical. There is a dirty joke in there somewhere but I'll let that go.
One more thing. There were Samsonite TV commercials when I was little. They would beat the tar out of them and they wouldn't break. Well this little bag here stood up to that. I had to drill the handles out. The lock was almost impossible to remove. It took forever to deconstruct it!!!!!! The front was such a mess I had to craft a way to keep it closed. The 2 latches I bought didn't work.
I also made a curling iron cozy that matched!

I attached elastic to the sides.

really cute! I got a little travel bag similar to that at a Thrift Shop a few years' back. I never figured out how to recover it (I love how you did yours) but it's been soooo useful! I decoupaged the inside with makeup ads since I had my makeup in there for a while. Now it's got lingerie in it.
Really great project!

gah! That is so cool! I love the fabric you used!!

I remember those samsonite ads...wasn't there a gorilla involved? tossing the cases around his cage or something?

Great inspiration. I have one of these -- use it to hold old photos (I know, not the best idea in the world)...

Would love to know more about how you re-covered it.

Thanks becc, QuiltersBlock , and yum yum
Hot glue is my friend. The fabric had a slight stretch to it so I stretched and glued and then I hid the raw edge with trim.

That is absolutely fantastic. Great job. I had one like that for over 20 years and than dumped it. That was long before I started repurposing things.

Thanks!!! I love it. We just got back from a camping trip and this makes my life a little easier. I can keep our contact lens solution, bug spray and sun block in here and nothing spills!! You have no idea how many times this happens to us. Plus I don't have to fight with the rest of the family for mirror space.
