A bunch of violets to welcome spring, which seems not wanting to come at all this year, here...
The purple parts (the "flowers") are more coiled than the green and it's plyed with golden embroidery thread.

Pretty yarns so far this week, and that shawl is beautiful, star217.

I haven't been able to spin too much the last few weeks, due to a back injury, but I had finished this up just before I hurt myself.

"Tempest" about 95 yards of soft merino wool in navy, royal blue and white is plied with carbonized bamboo, iridescent thread strung with silver lined glass beads, and bits of black and purple novelty yarns.

"Wildwood" is about 102 yards, 100% wool in pale purple and green plied with iridescent thread strung with glass beads.

I love everyone's yarns! The violets are such a fun idea Weddy_in_Paris!  Grin

I've been a long time lurker on these threads but I'm excited to say that in a few weeks I too might finally get to join as I'm getting a wheel on the 6th! These threads are such an inspiration!

My yarns for the week...

Canopy - Bamboo (dyed by me) with handsewn & hand-embroidered leaves made from a recycled t-shirt. I love this one! I am obsessed with spinning yarn with leaves right now...

Painted Ponies - two identical skeins of self-striping yarn. They both will self-stripe in the same color sequence, with no repeats. The colors in this yarn are (in the order they occur): gold, pale blue-green, blue, tan, dark brown, deep vermillion (pinkish red), yellow, and gray.

Jingle Jangle & Gyptian - two similar (but different) skeins of novelty yarn from the same dyelot. One has about 12 gold jingle bells spun in, and the other has 3 jingle bells, bronze sequins, sections of gold bamboo, and is wrapped with a thin metallic gold thread. My wheel jingled while I spun these! Plus I keep startling myself everytime I move them.

Stinging Nettle - patchwork yarn in greens & browns.

Flameflower - Spun from both handcarded batts + roving.

Happy Fiber Friday, all!

theme of Alpaca:
coco&caramel: from roving i bought in Bodega, CA about 8oz spun up:

i bought fleeces in Jamul, CA. 1 cria, and 2 adult.

a sampler i made from the fleeces:

the cria is sooo soft and lovely, but the adults are kinda scratchy, the middle one i don't know what i will do with, being so incredibly scratchy and all. maybe give the spun stuff to my mom to weave a rug.

i *heart* the bamboo Smiley

Everyone's yarn looks great!  I really like the bamboo, and I sooo need to try spinning some.

I have a bunch of stuff I've finished recently, but just got around to taking pictures:
I think this was shetland roving.  2oz made about 70 yards

Fleece artist merino alpaca, navajo plied

HollyEqq batt, 4.8oz made about 60 yards

And my very favourite, some Pigeon Roof Studios superwash merino.  2oz made about 150 yards, and I have another 2oz to spin

(and there are more and bigger pictures here)

Ooh, I love your scrap yarns, isamax!  And I can has Feralfem's yarns?  Pleez?  Smiley

Haven't been in the spinning mood for the past few weeks (I think it has to do with the weather - I spin more when it's happy and sunny outside), but we've had a few nice days lately, so I eased into it by producing my one little lonely skein for this week:

It's from a batt by Terrabellaspun called October Glow.  77 1/2 yards, 2 3/8 ounces.

Oh, and I wove a piece of fabric from some handspun, too.  It turned into this:

Yay upholstery!

I love all the yarns posted this week but I think the bamboo Canopy is my favorite. Looks so soft and with the shiny bamboo look.

Here's my offering for the week. Yarn I spun from a romney fleece I purchased locally, cleaned and carded myself. It's going to be knitted up as socks for my uncles. It still needs to be washed to set the twist and not sure of yardage or weight (I just kept grabbing more and spinning) yet. There's a penny in the first picture for reference.

This second picture shows the color of the yarn a bit better. It's more of a grey with a bit of nearly black mixed in some places.

Everything looks awesome as usual.  Lufah, your handspun handwoven fabric looks AMAZING!  Also, 'Canopy' is giving me all sorts of ideas for add-ins and accessorizing my yarn, which is all I can think about these days...

Here are mine for the week (the week being Monday through today, as most of last weekend's yarns are under my Spinning Wheel Honeymoon post Wink

Anyway, first is from Copperpot Woolie's "Cry Baby" roving, 4 oz, who knows how many yards, worsted/bulky weight:

Secret Garden, a Hobbledehoy LOLBatt, 1.5 ounces, under 100 yards, thick and thin:

Closeup:

And here is my spin-in-progress.  From a 4 oz roving from Mary Jan's Attic, called Water Lilies (i think...)  This single is at like... who knows what weight, all I know is I don't come close to yarn this thin!  It *should* be worsted weight when plied, but we'll see.  This wool just wanted to be thin, so I let it...but it's taking FOREVER.

Happy Spinning to all!!!

So many beauties... so hard to pic faves...
I didn't get much spinning done this week, and none on my wheel. I played with my drop spindle at work one day and actually got it to work. I had been given a drop spindle kit by a friend who found out she was allergic.  The wool in it was really coarse and I couldn't get it to spin in the air at all when I tried it last year & that was kinda frusterating. I tried it with some of my hand dyed superwash merino and it made such a difference. It was fun too!

Happy "Friday" everyone.. LOL!!  I"m a bit late..  I'm posting from Chicago, as we've been doing wedding stuff all weekend.. and it's only SAT!!  Yesterday we took 500 engagement photos downtown WOOT!!!  It was so fun!!  Bryan is in the shower now, and then we are going to cake tasting... at EIGHT AM!!!  I think I can manage eating cake at 8 am LOL!!
I have a few this week..  I tried to manage my new home buyer stress and taxes stress by spinning..   Tongue
My first is 100% bamboo, wrapped with a holographic sparkley thread.
Very Berry
156 yards, 4 oz

The next is my fave of the week.. I think.  It's a 3 oz batt set, from  Hobbledehoy.  I spun it thick and thin, and then plied it with a rayon thread that changes from light green to dark green, beehives, coils and bright silk flowers
105 yards in both skiens
Perfect Garden, 3.5 oz

Mocha, 300 yards superfine corridale, 6 oz

Snowflakes, 250 yards pure tencel, 4 oz

This was spun from some fun rainbow batts from Mandalinn.  I spun it thick/thin and wrapped it with a peweter holographic thread
After the Storms, 119 yards, 3 oz

Spring Days
67 yards, 100% hemp.  4 oz
This was my first time spinning hemp.  It's a bit coarse, but it softens in the wash.  I LOVE it!!

Finally, this was spun from my March ArtClub batt.  It's thick/thin, plied with coils and beehives and purple silk flowers all around a green metallic thread
Purple Pansies, 74 yards, 3.5 oz

Jazzturtle, "very berry" looks JUST like a bowl of freshly picked, washed, sparkling berries in June!  Great job!  The rest are amazing as usual too.  I can't wait to get a jumbo flyer kit so I can shove things like plastic flowers through the orifice Wink  Have fun in Chicago this weekend, hopefully the sun will come out for you!!  And hopefully there won't be anymore earthquakes or cougars! The flowers I use are silk, so they easily fit thru the oriface..  but yea.. when I do ones with stems, I ahve to work things around the oriface.. .

We had beautiful weather for our photos.. Friday was just perfect.  I know how crazy chitown weather can be.. I'm a native.. only being here in NC for the past few years..  I love how things can be sunny one day and snowing the next..  just chicago charm LOL!!  That's why our wedding is inside.. i'm not risking the ceremony on crazy chicago weather!!
