So I finally figure out how to make a bag with a gusset and a zipper, it turns out great, I open it and....the zipper breaks. I've pulled the zipper out, but I'd have to pull the whole bag apart to get another zipper in it. I was thinking of just hemming the top and putting on another closure, but I wondered if any  of you lovely crafters had clever ideas.

The whole bag, it's a sort of felted wool, I think, beautiful fabric.

The fantastic tie I used as the strap. The other side has two D-rings to make it adjustable (and hard to take that side apart).

The top, zipper removed (I didn't take any pics with the zipper in).

Close up, the zipper sat in the middle.

Thanks for looking Smiley

Oh man, that sucks. It figures that it would happen on such a beautiful bag too. Why dont you bias-tape (with tape that matches that pretty blue) around the raw edges and add a velcro tab or two that fastens across? Or you could sew a new zipper to two pieces of wool and attach them to the body, and french-seam the insides?

That's an idea, I did find that the zipper was a little small for the bag, so I don't think I want to add another one, but bias tape! I never even thought of it. I'll have to go and find some to match the blue, but that would be prettier than just hemming it. Thanks Smiley
