I love it!  What pretty colors...
If it is not big enough... (mind you, I am not a expert at crochet.. I can't read the patterns.. have to have someone explain them, and then I write them in my own words!)  can you do a triple crochet on the short ends, and a smaller stitch on the sides?  That way it would add more length, but not as much width?  (my ignorance may be showing here...)  Linda P

Cheesy .........I have that book................. Wink

I made that same blanket in the child's size for my sister's baby............in all pastels........... Smiley .........it came out gorgeous........ Roll Eyes

It's such a simple pattern............yet makes a beautiful contrast with the FP/BP triples.......... Smiley

I love the bold colors you chose.......... Wink

If you choose to make another..........I would maybe add a few stitches to two opposing sides.............following the same pattern..........to lengthen it............ Smiley ............it's probably because the pattern is really squarish that he's not getting quite enough coverage.  Just be sure to add the same amount to both 'sides'.......... Tongue

PS..........you should really check out the Heritage Afghan in that book............it's a simple pattern as well.......(all sc).........but is done with two alternating yarn colors to form a pattern............ Smiley

It's GORGEOUS!..........Check it out......:

This is one that I'm making for my son..........who's a Naval MP............. Smiley ..........(hence the navy blue and white)
I think the original in the book was a lighter blue and white as well........ Smiley
The best part about this one is that like the Child's Own...........it's a very compact design with no holes...........densely made.......and the strand not in use is carried inside of your stitches............so that it has a fabulous weight to it........... Grin
WARM WARM WARM!............ Wink

my dad would LOVE that, he is an OSU alumnus.  Someone here posted an ami of the Buckeye mascot, I keep meaning to make it, but haven't yet.

O-H!!

I'm graduating from OSU in June  Cheesy  I have a lot of friends here who would be sooooo jealous of this.  It looks very professional, and I like how it makes the block O shape.
