Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I finally decided to work with vinyl in a handbag. I was damn intimidated, but alas I have completed my first vinyl purse. The vinyl was actually very easy to work with. I didn't even have to buy a sturdier needle or bust out my machine's walking foot. Okay, so I forgot to buy the needle when I bought the vinyl, but whatever... If you are intimidated by vinyl at all, don't be! I swear it was easy peasy.

I made a pattern narrower at the bottom and wider at the top so I could end up with a bucket bag. The lining is a pink cotton with really subtle white flowers. I did a cell phone pocket with a button closure (actually, I think this is the first time I sewed a button hole for use in a handbag too) and a pen pocket that holds 4 pens.

It looked pretty plain when I was done, so I decided to add some flair. Lol. I put 8 grommets down each side and looped some pink satin ribbon through them. The end result is something that looks tough and soft simultaneously. If it were a woman, she'd be a bad-ass biker chick who cries during sappy commercials. Wink

I would appreciate any comments you have! On to the pics...

I don't need a baby growing inside me for nine months. For one thing, there's morning sickness. If I'm going to feel nauseous and achy when I wake up, I want to achieve that state the old fashioned way: getting good and drunk the night before.

I like it I like it, although with my vintage machine I would have to break out the roller foot. I can never find black vinyl either.

You guys are too kind. No, really, you are. I woke up this morning and ran to the site to see if anyone left comments ('cause that's what we all do when we post a completed project here), and now I am beaming. It's very encouraging to get such nice comments. And now to drink a celebratory latte before sewing a Saturday away...
