MONSTERS! my printamking final

I made this last year for my printmaking final, and I finally ot it back from the professor! Everyone in the class had to make a book based on the theme "Monsters". Everyone interpreted the theme differently...but I went a more literal route, using it as an excuse to make a buncha cutesy monster prints. The book has six sections, and five front and back wood cut prints in each section. This took forever, but I was so happy with it! Sorry the pics are a little rushed. Photography is obviously not my thing.

My idea was to at first have just parts of the monster showing:


And then once the "light" came on, you'd see the whole monster:


I tried to have the patterns in the backgrounds go with the look of the monster, like this skinny tall guy and the stripes:

the little cyclops one reminds me of Mike from Monsters, Inc.  I love all of the monsters you've shown us and I think that whoever gets to see that in person is really very lucky!
