I made this last year for my printmaking final, and I finally ot it back from the professor! Everyone in the class had to make a book based on the theme "Monsters". Everyone interpreted the theme differently...but I went a more literal route, using it as an excuse to make a buncha cutesy monster prints. The book has six sections, and five front and back wood cut prints in each section. This took forever, but I was so happy with it! Sorry the pics are a little rushed. Photography is obviously not my thing.

Here is the cover of the book, I actually used this piece of wood to do one of the prints inside:

This is the title page:

My idea was to at first have just parts of the monster showing:

And then once the "light" came on, you'd see the whole monster:

I tried to have the patterns in the backgrounds go with the look of the monster, like this skinny tall guy and the stripes:

Here are the other monsters. There are tons more pages, but that would take too many pictures! This gives you an idea.
Emo Monster

Fluffy cute monster

Hehe, little devil monsters

And I though this one looked kinda like a cow. A cyclops...bipedal cow.

You imagine songs that have never been played
They will try to buy you and your mind

the little cyclops one reminds me of Mike from Monsters, Inc.  I love all of the monsters you've shown us and I think that whoever gets to see that in person is really very lucky!  Cheesy

I love your monsters, they are so cute! Are they all woodblock prints?

Do you say 'yes' to a single desire? Oh, my friends, then you say 'yes' to all pain.

Just so amazing - from the monster designs to the page colorings. It's all top notch. What kind of binding is this beauty held together with?
