Swap crafty swag pertaining to whatever issues are closest to your heart.

For instance, my causes are animal rescue, anti-breed specific legislation, big black dogs, spay/neuter education, stopping puppy mills and back-yard breeders, and just about any other issues pertaining to cats & dogs.

Yours may be equal rights, literacy, premature babies, religious freedom, diversity, gay/lesbian/bi rights, Free Tibet, awareness for diseases or syndromes, etc, etc, etc.

Your cause wouldn't have to match your partner's, but if I were organizer I'd make sure I didn't match up people with opposing views (for example pro-life and pro-choice).

Anyone up for this? If so, what would your cause(s) be?

Awesome idea! Smiley I'm interested in/support a lot of the causes you mentioned.

When are you thinking of starting up signups?

Depending on the interest I get, I'd like to start signups fairly soon in order to have the swap the second 1/2 of May or early June. I could put it off if that would work better for others, but it seems like everyone I know has a birthday in May, June or July, so summer is a busy time.

Don't know if I'd be able to join, but this sounds like an awesome swap! I think if you opened it up, you'd find a lot of people willing to join in. (Especially right now... Not a lot of swaps open...)

Late May/early June would work best for me, but that's just 'cause I'm swamped right now!  LOL!

My cause would be Peanut Allergy Awareness.

Peanut Allergy Awareness sounds like an interesting cause. It's probably something that could use some public attention.

Interesting! Would have to think of what I would actually craft. My causes would have to be breast cancer research, mental health awareness/support, or CAH awareness/support (genetic disease we just found out my new nephew has, he will be born in 3 weeks)

Peanut Allergy Awareness sounds like an interesting cause. It's probably something that could use some public attention.

It needs more public attention than what it's getting.  My daughter is about to go to pre-school, and the ONLY person in the school who is allowed to administed the Epi-Pen is the school nurse, but that's just not good enough.  Teachers and other staff members should be trained to use them, as well as administer the medication.  Waiting one minute for the nurse to arrive could be deadly...

Ok, off my soapbox...

As you can imagine, I already do what I can to teach others about peanut allergies, as well as other food allergies.

For myself, I would like to receive crafts that are wearable by me or my dogs, or display-able (new word?). That way you are spreading the word of your cause without saying anything, but it can be a conversation starter for anyone who is curious and wants to learn more. Or it could be a more personal craft that is a reminder to the recipient of how important the cause is to them, and encourage them to get out there and volunteer or spread the word. It could even be something small in multiples that the recipient could hand out to others.

I would absolutely join this swap! I have so many causes I would have to think about which one to choose.

Probably more art in public education!
