I'm a beginning knitter, so I don't know that much about knitting instructions that go further than 'knit 3, purl 3' (ok, I do understand a bit more, but I need to puzzle a lot)
I also struggle with the fact that English isn't my main language.

The pattern says :
"Knit across row picking up cast on sts and knitting them together with each st."
What does she mean by 'picking up cast on sts'? Does it mean you have to create more stitches somehow?? I have no clue.

Maybe it helps if I post the instructions that go before the line I don't understand:
"K2, *yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Next row: sl1, purl to end."

Hmmm, where's the whole pattern? The k2 yo k2tog seems fairly straight forward, but if the cast on sts part is after that, one would assume it's later on in the knitting. Is it maybe a gusset? Totally confused.

Okay, the `pick up co sts' is for a hem. You Cast on, knit a few rows then fold up the CO edge and pick up a st from it and knit together (as in k2tog) with a stitch on your needle. You can take some scrap yarn and practice it so you see how it works.

Now I think I understand.. You kind of fold your knitting double, by using the stitches you made when you casted on.. Or am I wrong on this?
Thanks for the help!  Smiley
