(couldn't come up with a more clever name... Smiley )

I had this idea percolating for a couple of days.  So, $8 in cheap-o towels and an evening later:



It turned out a bit bigger than I had intended (36" x 27" including the side fringe) but I'm really happy with it.



My favorite part of it is how the strips formed rounded bumps on their own when I beat the weft (terminology?).


My homemade loom is holding up well, but I am beginning to recognize the limitations, most notably the awkward method of winding the weaving as I go.  Must. Buy. "Real".  Loom...

!!  i have a rug like this that i bought at ikea and i'm always wondering if it's possible to make one myself!  this is really cool!  it looks very professional

Awesome! I have three like that from Ikea, and they definitely rock my socks... as well as my bare feet. he he. I bet yours is softer, cause the ikea ones are just t-shirt strips.
