This is my first post on the cooking board!  I wanted to show off the cake I made for my youngest son's 4th birthday.  It isn't fantastic, but it was fun and simple to do.

My inspiration Smiley

Oh cool, how did you make it? Is that fondant you cut into shapes? My oldest nephew will be 4 in 2 weeks and I promised him a pirate cake (that's what he wanted) so I have been trying to figure out how to make one! I'm also making all the kids at his Chuck E Cheese party "pirate loot" bags to hold their tokens and tickets!

The skull and cross bones are made with melted chocolate. I learned how to do it by reading, The Whimsical Bakehouse.
Find a picture or draw a picture that you want to trace.  Lay parchment paper on top of the drawing.  Melt the chocolate and spoon it into a plastic bag or icing bag and then trace your design with the chocolate.  It takes a little while to harden, but once it does you can just peel it off the parchment and lay it on the cake.  Easy!  I've done it few times, the key is having a cool place to store the cake so the chocolate doesn't melt Smiley
