I posted the tutorial for creating a similar pattern with my cross stitch 'test' here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=239355.0

My goal was to make a quilt although the cross stitch was fun... the quilt still needs binding (ugh!...the un-fun part of quilting for me)
My husband freaked out at first as my little project was taking over our living room. I told him not to panic...that it would shrink due to the seam allowances...now he's simply amazed.
...and it did shrink!

I ironed her in my kitchen...it had the best lighting of any room in the house,

... and added the batting and backing fabric while it hung out on the line...red satin!!! Oooh la la!

I will get the binding done...I must get the binding done...

*if you would like to blog about this project or feature it anywhere off of craftster... please contact me about doing so. It breaks my heart to do a google search & find that my project was used without my permission & credit was not given where credit is due. Thank you kindly!

This is so amazing! What a great idea to use a cross stitch grid to make an image into a quilt. Fabulous, just fabulous!

Shocked you are great! if that was me making that i would have cut out all those pieces and they would then sit in a plastic bag for many years and then "accidently" get thrown away by my husband. you and your husband have amazing patience!! way to go!!

Thank you randymacker07, stick, winstongang, demekah, tibeydo, dez-igns, &  GothChics for your kind words!
And yay for twin girls GothChics! You get double the fun as an aunt of 2  Grin

I think a Marilyn theme is an excellent idea for any little girl's room, and feel free to use the image from the pattern tutorial if you like...it would look great on a baby's wall or make a nice crib quilt! You just need to pick your fabrics to match the values of the squares...like how I picked the threads to do the cross stitch.

My babygirl will most likely inherit this quilt, as I don't think I could part with it.  Smiley

That is amazing! I saw your picture in your tutorial and didn't quite imagine it looking like this. Each square is a solid color, right? How many different 'colors' (shades of grey plus black and white I guess) did you use? I need to learn how to quilt!
