Honestly?  I've been surfing craigslist.  You'd be amazed what people/shops just want to get rid of sometimes.  But then, I'm getting into other sewing soon too, not just quilting, so I'm willing to take a little bit of anything.   Grin

We have a small chain of stores here in Maine called Mardens, http://www.mardens.com/.  They are a sort of discount reseller/retailer.  Some of their stores have great fabric sections, mostly all quilters cottons in many great prints.  $2-$3 a yard.  Wife and I have have also also bought entire bolts of fabric or 10 Cents a yard or less.

Great variety and reasonable prices make Mardens the place to buy fabric in my book.
