My friend, who went to school for artsy stuff, made this amazing stamp out of linoleum. I had no idea you could even use linoleum for that sort of thing!
Well, when she remembered she had it, and when she realized we needed more products in our shop and for a convention we were going to be selling at, she brought it over. We decided that we could probably use it with some fabric paint to print on some tote bags.
The totes are just plain white ones from Michael's and the fabric paint was simple matte black. However, upon closer inspection of the paint, it turns out that the paint must have been mislabeled because there is a trace of some dark green shimmer in the paint. You can hardly see it, though, because the print is on canvas and since we pressed the stamp with a rolling pin, its not super dark. Another issue was that both Michael's near my house didn't have a brayer, so my friend hand painted on the fabric paint with a craft brush.
Another huge issue with the bag was our plan to put our company logo on with a freezer paper stencil. Well, we couldn't find my exacto knife, and the only other stencils I had made were for glass etching. It took some serious finger cramping work to try and keep the etching stencils in place while I drew on the name and logo with fabric pen. Thankfully, it all turned out great!
We're thinking of trying the same technique (hopefully with a brayer) on some simple tank tops. I'm also going to try and have her come up with new designs to make stamps out of!
