My niece {actually, my very best friend's daughter} is turning one on June 1st.. so of course Aunt Sally had to whip up a birthday dress!!
I got the adorable fabric from ebay. I love how the cupcakes have shimmery gold on them- since it will be her golden birthday: one on the first. After wanting to make one for a long time, this is my first pillowcase dress.  I love it! The party hat is probably my favorite part though Smiley

That is the PERFECT birthday dress!  I am in love with it.  The pom poms are a nice touch.  I might try that, my pillowcase dresses are always so boring.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you. Grin The pom trim was only $1.79/yd at Joann's! Much cheaper than I thought it'd be.

that's so sweet - and not just from all the cupcakes!   Undecided
i was admiring so much about the dress that i didn't even notice the pom pom trim until the close-up.  i love it!
and how in the world did you make that hat?  because i think my nieces need them for their birthdays (april 16th and 19th)   Grin

Well first of all, I cheated and bought a pre-made foam party hat at Joann's for $1.99. Then I hot-glued ribbon loops & curling ribbon to the top of the hat. Also, two long pieces of ribbon to the inside (I cut off the ugly black elastic chin-strap-thing that came on the hat). Then came the fabric, which I just sort of wrapped & glued around the hat. And finally the ric-rac ribbon stuff around the top & bottom. And that's it. If you have any questions, please ask! =)
