My first needle felted bear

I'm used to making dogs and cats, but this is my first teddy bear. It only took me 3 hours (my dogs take anywhere from 4-8 hours!) to create including the little birdy.
Its about 3.5 inches/90mm tall. It was fun to make something without real reference.

This is awesome. It caught my eye as a thumbnail. I love the little birdie. They look like such good friends. It reminds me of the Franklin the Turtle series for some reason.

Oh my, he is just wonderful!  Where did you learn to needle felt?  Are you self-taught or did you have some one to show you?  This is definitely something I think I would love to do, but it looks so difficult and I wouldn't know where to start! 

And OH.MY.GOD. I just noticed his belly button!  He is seriously perfect.
