For a recent trip to gma's house, I made this for my little goose.

Here he is helping hold it.

He chose the center panel, and wanted anything related to it.  Technically, purists would call it a tied coverlet, but in my family they are quilts.  There is no batting, instead 4 layers of muslin give this a good weight that drapes and comforts like nothing else can.  My creativity cornered me again on this project and I added a doublelayered panel to the back to make my quilt a qwillow.

It was looking oh-so plain, pinned on, so on impulse I added a lightening mcqueen pocket for my ds to put his wheeled friends in.  Then I remembered the weight of the quilt and added handles to carry it with.  I'm thinking of making some more, they were fun and quick to make.  I finished this from design to completion in less than two weeks.Grin

As always, comments and suggestions are more than welcome.  They help me learn!

I love it. Especially love the way you've added the pocket and handles to the pouch - what a fantastically practical but still really beautiful thing it is.

WOW! That's honesty like the most amazing blanket/comforter idea ever!
I love your creativity with this too. Really fits the "cars" theme. Good movie!
Overall, I LOVE THIS!

my Gma made me one of those once.  I loved it.  I was just telling a friend about it just the other day.

Thank y'all so much.  The idea was from some I had seen years ago.

I wasn't sure about the fabric at first, but they suit my little goose's BOLD personality.

Part of me wants to make one for myself....only floor pillow sized.  It would be great for picnics.

So cute.  I love that it folds into a tote bag.
