It's been ages since I've posted in craftster!
Anyhow... I've been doing a TON of sweater recons over the past few months and decided to share a few of my most recent (and favorites).
This one started out as a super unflattering XXL short and wide sweater.  I took it in a bunch and gave it a deep scoop neckline with plaid lycra trim.

I did similar things to this one.  I love this one sooo much.  The colors make me happy.

This one was a gigantor 80's cardigan that I sized down.

I made this hoodie out of a Cheshire Cat t-shirt and some striped fabric I've had laying around for years.

And last, but not least, a similar hoodie made out of a Gir t-shirt.

Any comments/criticisms would be greatly appreciated!
Oh and sorry for the lack of "before" pictures...  I'm really bad at that.  Thank you!

i finish all of my seams with a straight stitch and a serge.... but there are alternatives to working with sweaters even without a serger.
for thinner sweaters, you can do french seams.  make sure your first line of stitiching is a zig zag though.
orrr.
you can do a zig zag, then hand finish your seams using a bias tape/seam binding.  make sure it's stretchy so that your seams don't pucker when finished.
orrrr...
not as "clean" looking.. but can still hold together well... do a straight seam... and reinforce your allowances with a line or two of zig zagging.
i work in a knitwear shop and these are all methods we use for finishing seams.  good luck!

I am obsessed with sweaters! I love what you did with these. I especially love the little details like the animal trim on some of them. I think my favorites are the second, the animal print cardigan and the chesire cat one. AMAZING

Considering the eighties haunt me in a way that makes me nauseas, these are definitely pieces that are serving as therapy.
