Hi all Smiley
First off, let me start by saying, no, this is not an original image - its a copy of a page from Tank Girl vol.1 (wooo Tank Girl!!!!), who's art is by Jamie Hewlett.
We have two bathrooms in our apartment, one across from the other. One has the bathtub and a sink, and the other a toilet and sink. I've always loved this tank girl drawing and decided to copy it to put up in the bath bathroom. I also just got some awesome new colours of paint that i really wanted to try out.
It's on a 12"x12" canvas, in acrylics. I wanted it to look like marker, so there are a lot of layers for each colour (there are, i shit you not, 7 layers of yellow on that duckie). I'm just learning to use acrylics, so there were some technical challenges for me in this one. I was kind of shocked that you couldn't just buy ready made flesh tone paints... mixing the right shade (even for cartoon complexions) required some trial and error. In the end, the painting took way longer than anything else I've done, but i find it really pops. Some details have been changed (colours, shading, the weird leg shadow in the original) but I didn't feel comfortable changing too much about the image since it isn't mine so, for the most part, its the same. I'm hoping to do a tall narrow canvas for the toilet bathroom, if I can find a tank girl toilet image that isn't too crass (or draw one myself).
Here is a link to the original image: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc152/missacidtrix/bath2.jpg

Rub a dub dub, three girls in a tub...

EDIT: a friend asked me to post a closeup, so here you go. This one is a bit closer to the true colours (its from a second scan). I guess I didn't colour correct the first scan enough, its too dark.

anyway, it makes me smile. ^_^

I love it! They used to call me Tank Girl in high school (I shaved my hair off). Your colors look fabulous!

That's awesome!  I love the streakiness of the red in the background.  Plus you totally reminded me that I haven't posted my bathtub project yet!  I'm going to do it now!
