So basically, I'm thinking that this hat is what Ma Cobb would make for Jayne's girlfriend... if ever he had one, and brought her home to meet Ma.

I shrunk down the number of rows for both colors and made the earflaps quite a bit smaller. I LOVE the original, but I know I won't wear a hat if I feel completely silly in it. This one is still pretty ridiculous, but it's toned down enough to seem like a normal hat. Also, I have a pretty small head, and those flaps are just crazy big. (patter from Dryope's blog)

Sorry to subject you all, but I just can't resist cliche MySpace 'angles' shots.... CLASSIC!

And the detail of the pompom, because I think they're cute.

Thanks! I could have stayed true to the original, but I wouldn't have worn it out much. I do love it though. I still got  a couple weird looks yesterday, but I felt cute in it, so that's all that matters.

That, and if I see a fellow Browncoat, they'll still know whats up.

And they'll know that you aren't afraid of anything Cheesy

I really like your version, cos I gotta say, the original is one heck of a lump of ugly.

LOL....I swear only another browncoat would know what's up...I've made a version of the hat for my hubby (out of horrid Red Heart yarn, it was my first so I used exactly what the pattern said to use) and then knit my own from cascade 220, which stayed a bit truer to the color....

I've worn mine to gaming conventions and even then only about half the people recognize the hat...

someone commented on it when I went to see Eddie Izzard in Boston, and I was pretty excited. That was my second, since then I've made a baby sized on for my friends she-fetus, and I've got to make the dad one, as well as one for my daughter, boyfriend and at least one friend. Thank god they're so darn quick.
