My crafty pen pal Marie (athenamat) sent me this pattern [Butterick 4822, I did view C] last week in a supply swap. In an effort to use up some of my fabric stash, I unearthed some material from about 5 years ago. For the shell, I used some Eiffel Tower fabric (duh!) and the lining is teal with some fancy looking silhouettes of ladies walking dogs and the like. I used the shell fabric for the base of the lining and the interior of the zippered pocket, but I don't know if I'm in love with that.

I followed the pattern for the most part, but I did make a few little changes. I used plastic in the base instead of cardboard so I could wash it, and added a zippered pocket and a keyring in the lining. I carry a lot of junk in my bags, so I need all the organization I can get.

The pattern wasn't difficult, but I had forgotten how much I hate gathering. That said, I will probably make another one for my sister's birthday.

This is beautiful, way nicer than the one I made Tongue  Plastic is a great idea for the inside too.  It's funny we liked the same view too Smiley

It is so beautiful.  Yours is much nicer than the one on the pattern.  BTW, did you use any interfacing?

Very cute.  I actually like the Eiffel tower fabric for the bottom of the lining!  It gives it some interest.  Not that the bag lacked interest, but you know what I mean.

I only did what the pattern called for, which was interfacing the base pieces and the top half of the lining (which includes the straps). But it almost stands up on it's own with the plastic piece in the base.
