I'm saying, when you see it offered at a special discount sale, how much is it?  I thought I remembered it as 5 for $1 at the after-Thanksgiving sale, but am not sure.  Do you know how often the chain stores in the US put it on 40% off or 50% off?  Thanks!

The normal price is usually 25 cents per skein. On sale it is normally 20 cents.
That is for the regular unvarigated solid colors. Metallics, variegated, etc are slightly higher priced.

That is at big name places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

I drove to the local JoAnn's and found it to be $.29 for solid colors.  The assortment packs they had were not cheaper, they were $.40 per skein, but they included a "free pattern".

This week Hobby Lobby has DMC on sale 4/$1. Not including the special skeins.

Not to long ago... some Walmarts where having a clearance sale on the DMC embroidery floss... Don't know if all of them where getting rid off the floss.
The reg. price was 20 cents, I think, and it was on clearance for .10 cents a skein.... I took advantage and got me what I needed (and didn't need as well  Wink ) .  So I guess you could check your local Walmarts and see what they have going on with the floss.

Shocked I've gotta move countries... the normal price in Australia is $1 or so per skein.

Joanne's has them 5 for 1$ quite often. Just hold out for the sale!!! Also--thrift stores have been good to me in terms of buying up a box of floss all one color. good luck

It looks like Walmart has killed their embroidery offerings. I've checked stores in Maine, Ohio, and Illinois to no avail. They're expanding their scrapbooking area it seems.  Undecided

Yep, I am in Ohio and just today I looked for some floss and ALL of the needlework things are gone.

Yeah, Walmart is taking away all their crafts. Maybe they'll leave like scrapbooking stuff, but that's like the only thing they think people do. No offense to scrapbookers, it's just not my thing. I bought a lot of floss at Hobby Lobby the other day, regular colors were 23 cents, and all the special ones were on sell. I got the linen floss for 79 cents, and some metallic for like 1.20.
