Store bought fondant isn't the greatest stuff in the world...it's good time-wise but that's it.
DH and I made a wedding cake many years ago for some friends and we used the store bought stuff.  I would have rather used buttercream, but she wanted it to look just like a picture from a bridal magazine, and it was fondant with flowers and leaves and squiggles.
I might actually try it again now that I can get a good tasting fondant!  Thanks for the tute!

As soon as I saw this I thought, this reminds me of something awesome...but what?  And then you said it was Twin Peaks inspired and it all came together. I love that show and I love that cake! You did an awesome job!

Awesome! A fondant recipe I can follow!

Now to get home and take over the kitchen...

My roommate suggested we try out fondant for a cake for our "freedom from our psycho roommate" party, and now we can! Hooray! Thank you!

This cake is beautiful but I am probably biased because I love Twin Peaks too Cheesy

So fab!
Love your cake and love Twin Peaks!
Your cake also reminded me of Beetlejuice with those black and white lines.
Well done!

"Thankfully there are plenty of eyeballs in my kitchen"

I love the eyeballs as much as I love this tute, it made me smile muchly!!  I'm afraid the twin peaks thing is lost on me but I'm sure the cake will be highly appreciated.

That cake is phenomenal!!! You have one seriously lucky bf. I haven't seen Twin Peaks, but I love how you took that room and morphed it into cake form-- so creative. And thanks for the tute, one day I'll have to be adventurous and try fondant... one day. For now I will bookmark it, though! Wink

Awesome job, what did your bf say?? And, by the way, the eyeballs rock my socks. Smiley

The icing was the hardest part. I was getting dizzy drawing the lines!

When my boyfriend saw it he was so surprised! He was like "aww, it's the black lodge!" it was so cute. I made him a twin peaks board game a few challenges ago, and it gave me the idea that he might like a twin peaks cake. and everybody loves the matching candles. when I was at the store buying black icing I just happened to spot them. how lucky, huh?

Anyway, thanks everybody for your awesome comments. I had so much fun making this tut!
