This is my first challenge entry! I am so excited.   Cheesy
I bought this little porcelain doll at Dollar Tree a while back in order to use her hair [believe it or not it was cheaper than just buying doll hair to make a wig]. I used the hair on another doll to make Yvaine for my first swap.

Here is the final product.

This is what I started with: Bear=$1  Place mat=$1  Doily=$1  Doll=$1.  Total $4+tax and I used my own paints

Thanks for looking!

This is an idea I have had for a while and hope to start making other animal dolls [using higher quality materials haha] and sell them.  What do you all think?

I think this is great!  It looks so high quality, I never would've guessed that you did this for so cheap!  Definitely would sell if you started a whole line  Smiley

Oh to take such ugliness and make something so adorable! The bear/baby turned out great.

Wow! That really turned out great, what a creative idea to combine all those elements!
I think dolls are a tad creepy (in general - sorry) but I love your polar baby!! And I love the process pic!

There isn't much I could post a tutorial about unfortunately.  Because the materials were so terrible, my first tries at making a pattern and sewing it together actually just fell apart.  This is all blood, sweat and hot glue.

This is awesome! She looks like something my grandma would make (she makes porcelain dolls). Very beautiful! You could start a whole line of creature babies! Smiley

omg, this is totally awesome. I love the way you painted the face. Just the whole combination of the different elements is very intriguing, so you just want to look at it some more and you keep switching your views. "It's a child, no it's a bear, no it's something completely different, and why is it wearing a ball gown. wait, what?" you know? sorry, maybe that's just me, I like getting confused. Tongue But I think that quality is something great to have in a piece of work. Great job.

haha I like your reaction to it!
My mental process was this.

Polar bears are kind of regal, and they are really the top of the food chain in places they live.  Top of the food chain is kind of like royalty. She is a royal polar bear, and a little girl, so she is a princess of polar bears. What would a princess wear in such cold weather? something very warm, and still regal.
