*bump* because the new episode tonight has shots of the hat and I remembered it!

It looks knit to me. Also, the yarn looks handdyed or something, the way the striping goes.

I paused it, and the stitching on the brim does look a bit like stockinette.
Whatevs - there's plenty of similar supercute crochet hat patterns.

think it pretty much is that one but i think the brim was a little shorter and it only had one line of ribbing instead of the two close together lines of ribbing.
