Does anyone know where I can get patina discs? Here's an example - they're the rounded square shaped discs behind the dragonflies.
http://www.amazon.com/Jody-Coyote-Dragonfly-Charm-Earrings/dp/B000VIIHII/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1207279774&sr=8-1

They're just flat shapes of metal that come in a variety of colors, sometimes with a sort of hammered texture. Fire Mountain used to have a huge selection of them, but apparently they don't carry them anymore. Cry I've been looking for some for forever.

I can't believe I've been on Craftster this long and only just now thought to ask... >.<

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."

Hmmm. Multicoloured metal suggests to me either anodised aluminium or something coated in something else. You might be able to make your own - I remember anodising aluminium at a summer craft workshop years ago. We drew on the aluminium with permanent markers and dipped it in some sort of chemical. It can't have been THAT dangerous if they let kids (I was about 12) near it.

It'd just be getting the supplies and the discs...

I was hoping to buy them. Not that I wouldn't love learning to make them, but for time issues I was hoping someone might know where I could find them, or that someone would have better luck searching for them online than I have.

I mostly just feel utterly frustrated because Fire Mountain used to carry them in all shapes and colors - they're so pretty! But now they don't have them, and I can't seem to figure out where I can get some. Sad

Thanks, though. Smiley And I like the Mystery Men reference in your signature. Wink

someone else who knows about this.  Smiley

but do you know WHY they no longer carry them?  I asked and they told me that the company burned to the ground and they never reopened.  Sad

I have yet to find anywhere else that carries them.   Cry

I've been meaning for quite some time now to experiment with polymer clay. Unfortunately, I've been busy with swaps and other things, so it will probably be at least a few more weeks until I can get to it!

Thanks for letting me know about why they don't carry them any longer - I feel bad for the people whose company burned down. It's too bad no one has filled in the gap.

I don't know if you're still looking for Patina Discs or not, but I found your post while looking for some for myself.  I found a person on Etsy who sells them.  Here's two different links from the same seller:

If you have already found a source, could you let me know where you purchase them?  Thank you.

Fire Mountain finally started carrying some again.  they're not the same as the ones they used to carry, but I still plan on grabbing some myself.  Smiley

Thank you! I saw them in the last catalog I got from them; I was a bit disappointed because I thought they weren't quite as neat looking as the old ones. But I might give them a try - let me know if you like them!  Smiley
