OK, I'm almost embarrassed to put this up.  You people are amazing.

Anyway, you know those little Magic Towel washcloths, the kind that expand in water?  Our local Dollar Tree has a whole bunch of Muppet and Disney ones right now, and I picked up a couple because I wanted to make something for my nephew who is Muppet-obsessed.

My mom made us pillows out of printed washcloths when we were kids.  At first, I thought I'd get all fancy-pants and make a little pillow with piping around the edges, but let's just say that experiment was a disaster.  Apparently I am not a quick study at sewing piping.  So after a lot of cursing and seam ripping, I thought I'd make something a bit simpler.  Back to the dollar store.

So, two washcloths, some recycled fiberfill and four homemade yarn tassels later, here's what we've got:

One side...

T'other side.

I've got to say, I think I like the tassels more than the original (yellow) piping.

Whaddya think, sirs?

How adorable!  I love the tassles...much more "fun" than piping would have been and I liked that you used different colored yarn for each tassle.

I think those look great! I never thought about making pillows out of them, but that is a great idea, specially if the kid is a bit of a drooler *mine looks like she just went swimming when she wakes up!*

Thanks folks!

BTW, my niece has been waiting for me to make her a pillow as well, and when she saw the tassels on this one she immediately wanted some on hers.  Fine by me (no piping to sew! yay!).  So I was happy, and she got a quick lesson in tassel making.

Oohh!!!! ooohh i love this!!! This is exciting! I have a 2 year old son and we are constantly buying those little magic washcloths for him LOL.... Ooohh.... I'm going to learn how to sew soon... I think I would try this. Was it hard to sew around fiberfill? I use fiberfill all the time, but I'm tying around it, never sewn. What an awesome idea!!
