Lady Bug Lover?

My boyfriend's mom has been more of a mother to me than my own for the past two years. Last mother's day I was out of the country, so I just sent her a card and some flowers. I want to do something special for her this year.

She really loves lady bugs (it has to do with her own mother and some stuff that happened a long time ago) so one of the things I got her for Christmas were some lady bug magnets ... I am at a complete loss as to what to do for mother's day. She's the nicest lady and always makes me feel like I'm part of the family. She does the most random cute things (like buying me a potted four leaf clover for St. Patrick's day this year) so I know she'll appreciate something cute like that. Let's see ... We live in Florida. She loves to read. I'm not the craftiest person, but I love paper crafts and I can sort of sew -- at the very least, I can enlist the help of my grandmother.

Any suggestions?

My grandmother LOVES ladybugs, and when we (the females in my family) asked her what she wanted for mothers day, she said "A ladybug tattoo on my foot."

Once we all got over our shock, we agreed... and then we decided that in tribute to her- we would all get tattoos also, with ladybugs incorporated into them.

It quickly escalated into us booking a tattoo parlor for all of Mother's Day, so that all 13 of us (me, my sister, my aunts, cousins & gma) could get our tattoos. Then of course the men jumped in on it (though I dont think their getting ladybugs!) and now the official count is up to 22 I think.

A memorable mothers day for sure!!!

Wow, what a fun Grandma! That is a great plan for Mother's day

That is so awesome!  It makes me wish my grandmother wanted a tattoo .

Oh, and maybe make a little ladybug stuffie?  It's just two circles sewn together with some batting or beans inside.  And you can be a little creative with legs and antennae and spots and stuff.

There is a kit out there that lets you 'grow' your own lady bugs! I saw it at Nasco the other day!
