OOPS, I did it again. Today is only Thrus NOT Fri. I seriously need a mental heath day
I have more super coils this week. They are spun from scraps of commercial yarns. At this point I have to restrain myself from coiling my entire stash!
Also check out some needle felted pattern binders I have been working on using some handspun yarns.
See more binders here:

Woo, my first fiber friday AND my first handspun yarn!
I give you Kinky:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2087/2383925968_4f0c1ecc1f.jpg?v=0
No, I'm kidding. Those were only the first yards, I cut them out when I started getting better. Here's my baby, Dreadunzel, named by my friend because it looks so much like hair braids or dreadlocks, we couldn't decide:
The colour is exact in the pic of the singles and roving:
It's a chocolate brown corriedale, undyed, bought from My Special Tea on ebay. I got 3 oz, but because I cut out a little, I think i have 2,5oz. 73 meters after plying.
I have mixed feelings about it. On one side, it's mine! I did it! And it isn't horribly misshapen, in fact it's almost even, and perfectly balanced (beats me, I don't know how I did that).
On the other side, I hate brown. And it's bulky, when all I knit with is fingering and DK. And it doesn't have the pretty colours of brooklyntweed's yarns (
http://www.flickr.com/photos/68971937@N00/1224862982/in/set-72157600481884907/
) or the awesomeness of luffah's (
http://www.flickr.com/photos/yarnzombie/2315953917/
.
Yeah, talk about high expectations...

YAY it's FRIDAY!!!!!! I am so excited because I don't have to work tomorrow.. we are starting house hunting since we just got pre approved for our first morgage
We are so stoked!!
I have been pretty busy this week... Finished all the thank you notes and spun spun spun!!
The first is a set. There are 2 skiens each of these.. and each is a scoche different.. I used the "mystery wrapped in a riddle" cuckoo batts from Art Club. They were white based with rainbow colors. My "suprise" add ins tucked inside(I got 2 batts) were a bag of rainbow mohair locks, and in the other one had some multicolored thread and two balls of firestar in greens and rainbow. I didn't actually use the addins for these skiens.. I saved them for another project..
Everybody Loves Rainbows
Candy Land
With Everybody Loves Rainbows.. the top skien was spun a thick and thin single, and candystriped with a rainbow holographic thread and as well as I let a silver holographic thread wrap randomly
The bottom skien was spun a thick and thin single as well, then I let gold holographic and silver metallic thread wrap randomly
Candy Land was spun to as the "crazy" yarn for the set.. I'm on a real sparkley pom pom kick..
The top skien was spun thick thin, and wrapped randomly with a rainbow thread, then plied with beehives and sparkley pom poms around a black rayon thread.
The bottom skien was spun thick and thin, and randomly wrapped with a rainbow thread and a silver holographic thread, and then plied with beehives and sparkley poms around a black rayon thread.
The different threads wrapping gives each skien just enough difference from eachother..
This was my first yarn spun with buttons. I really liked how it turned out.. however buttons don't fit thru my oriface, so I plied with my spindle. It's the first time I've used my spindle since getting my wheel.. it was almost difficult getting back into the spindle groove.. once I did it was awesome and the yarn turned out great! It's a mix of random "scrap" batts I got from my 1 lb fiber box from ArtClub. It's a mix of browns, burgandys, greens, grays and some green mohair locks. I added some copper angelina for super sparkle. It's plied with copper beads and buttons around a copper thread.
Odds and Ends
I crocheted it into a scarflette for my step mom as a thank you gift for throwing a wonderful shower for us. She'll even get use it this season as it's still chilly in MN.
I reinforced the large green button to be used as the closure.. I love how it turned out...
I have a Loop bamboo batt on my bobbin right now in beautiful green and purple and purplish gray.. YAY!!
Happy Friday everyone!!

Oh, I've been away a bit. But happy to be back at the wheel: here's a 4ply 50% swalesdale, 50% shetland (2 plies each). These were badly over-dyed grey rovings (by me, some pH issues), but I love this yarn. Which just goes to show you... bad rovings can make nice yarns.
http://pics.livejournal.com/astormorray/pic/0007a1yt
with a flash. The twist hasn't been set yet, but it looks mostly alright.
http://pics.livejournal.com/astormorray/pic/0007cs9f
close up under natural light.
http://pics.livejournal.com/astormorray/pic/0007ds0f
and here are three of the four plies on the light of my life, my tensioned lazy kate. The one on the left is the swalesdale, the other two are shetland.
And another thing I've been working on, after brushing the dust off the drum carder:
http://pics.livejournal.com/astormorray/pic/00078az1
It's 5.5 oz dyed targhee with 2 oz undyed targhee and about 2 oz grey angora. I hope to start spinning that tomorrow. Or maybe tonight?

Lovely yarns, as usual, everyone! I love your scarflette, jazzturtle!
I've been on a spinning kick this week, though I'm much less on a taking-pictures-of-my-yarns kick. I've got three unphotographed (4oz of South African Fine Wool from the Spunky Eclectic FOM club, 1oz of a "Goddess" batt from the Loop, and one 2oz skein of hand-dyed by moi mill ends). That all being said, here is what I HAVE photographed:
"Cherry Cordial." Hot pink was hand dyed by me, dark brown is a natural BFL:
AND "Autumn," from a hand dyed merion from mandalinn:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3169/2381351214_379bdb7d75_m.jpg
I actually got a third skein out of it, too, but that's been relocated to a happy home.
Can't wait to see everyone else's yarns!
