Hi everyone, this is my first project posted here. I think this is the right board for it, doesn't seem to fit anywhere else.

I made this wall hanging recently, using a vintage (1953) Scrabble board that was my Mom's. I used the tiles to spell out my last name, my partner's last name, and our first names, along with the first names of our 3 kids (blurred out the last names for posting....).

Here it is....

I cut a square of 3/8" plywood just smaller than the board and mounted it on the back so the board would be flat and sturdy. I laid out the tiles and decided how I wanted the names to fit together, then affixed them with clear silicone. We haven't hung it yet, but plan to drill a couple of holes in the plywood backing so it can be hung on a couple of screws/nails/hooks.

This was SO easy it's ridiculous. Fun too!

I used the leftover letters to make fridge magnets. I cut up one of those big advertising magnets you sometimes get in the mail, or free at a show or something, and glued a piece to the back of each tile. This didn't work all that well, as that type of magnet, when cut into little squares, is not strong enough to hold the wooden tiles up very well. I brush by the fridge and they all fall off. I'll have to redo them with stronger magnets.

Thanks for looking!

I love that you have your family's names on it. I might have to do this for my hubby and I, since we don't have kids I'll just put lovey-dovey words connecting our names. Thanks for the inspiration!!
