I saw these online some time ago and fell in love with them.

Ive since lost the site that they were on, so i have to make my own.
( Id rather not but I can't not have them! Me and dye don't work well together)
But how? Bleach? dye? I'm at a total loss.

My method since I don't like dye:
black pants & bleach where you'd want red to be. - at this point bleach on black jeans make a yellow.
Then I'd use fabric markers. - it'd take some time and a few markers but I think'd work.

best would be bleach the zones then dye.
its like hair- blonde takes color better than black.

or if you found fabric in a similar pattern then just do that.
or take red jeans and sew on dark fabric with cool topstitching in a neat color like orange or black.

I agree that it's a bleach method, what color you get when you bleach black depends on the composition of the original black dye. It's a crap shoot :/

Try using Lysol with bleach...  I've seen it turn a black cloth about that orangy/red colour before
